Frequently Asked Questions

Here you will find a list of complete and very practical answers. Don’t forget, our experts are best placed to answer your questions.
Do I need any experience before booking a driving lesson?
No prior experience is necessary! Many students come to us with little or no driving experience. Whether you've had a few lessons from family and friends or none at all, it's always a good idea to book with a professional instructor to ensure you’re learning the correct road rules and safe driving practices.
Do I need to speak English?
No, you don’t need to speak English fluently. We’ve taught many students who speak little or no English. You’ll only need to learn a few key driving terms, like “brake” or “turn left,” to help you during your lessons and the driving test.
Can I get refresher lessons?
Absolutely! If you’ve been away from driving for a while or feel like you’ve lost your confidence, refresher lessons are a great way to get back on track and regain confidence behind the wheel.
How many lessons will I need?
The number of lessons varies depending on your ability and previous experience. Most students need between 10 to 20 lessons to feel comfortable and confident on the road. While younger drivers typically learn faster, we encourage you to practice as much as possible to build confidence and ease on the road.
Do you provide a car for the driving test? Can I use my own car for lessons? What type of cars do you use for lessons?
We provide dual-controlled automatic cars for both driving lessons and your driving test, ensuring you feel comfortable and confident. The dual controls on the instructor’s side allow us to assist you when necessary, making the learning process safer and more effective. While you're welcome to use your own car for lessons, provided it meets the required safety standards, we recommend using our dual-controlled vehicles for the best learning experience, particularly if you are a new driver
What times and days are lessons available?
We offer flexible scheduling, with lessons available seven days a week, from 9 am to 7 pm. Whether you prefer morning, afternoon, or evening lessons, we can accommodate your schedule.
What do I need to take lessons?
You will need a valid New Zealand Learner’s, Restricted, Full License, or an Overseas License. If you have a NZTA temporary license, it is acceptable along with additional photo ID.
How do I get my Learner’s License?
We recommend preparing for your Learner’s License by studying the NZ Road Code. Additionally, we offer a free online theory test with 350+ practice questions to help you prepare. While this test is a helpful resource, it's important to read and understand the Road Code thoroughly before sitting your test.
When can I do my Restricted Test?
You can apply for your Restricted Test 6 months after passing your Learner's License test. During this time, you should gain sufficient experience on the road to prepare for your restricted driving test.
Can I get picked up from my home for lessons?
Yes, we offer door-to-door service. We will pick you up from your home, school, or work within our coverage area. Free pickup and drop-off are included in the cost of the lesson.
Is there a cancellation fee?
We require 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your lesson. If less notice is given, a cancellation fee will apply.
Can I use my own car if I have a Learner’s, Restricted, Full license, or Overseas Conversion License?
Yes, you can use your own car as long as it meets the required safety standards and you have the appropriate license. While you're welcome to drive the vehicle you’re most comfortable with, we recommend using our dual-controlled vehicles for the best learning experience, especially if you're new to driving or need additional support.
